Jan. 31, 2013 Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime, North Miami Beach Mayor George Vallejo, South Florida Workforce Investment Board Chair Alvin West and Executive Director Rick Beasley were among many guests celebrating the opening of the new location for the regionís oldest career center, first opened in 1999.

Dec.13, 2012 At Bongoís Cafť in Miami, Johnnie Walker Brands introduced its new My Label is Black campaign featuring Don Omar, Jorge Posada and Alex Sensation.† As part of the campaign, Johnnie Walker has forged a partnership with SER.

Oct 12, 2012 During the semi-annual meeting of the board of directors of SER-Jobs for Progress National, Inc. the board elected Jose L. Cela, president of the SER affiliate in Florida to the board for a term of four years.† Mr. Cela and Linda Rivas, Executive Director of the SER in San Antonio, TX serve on the board representing all other affiliates.

Oct 1, 2011 Esperanza USA, SERís long-time faith-based partner awarded SER a subcontract under their national partnership with Wells Fargo Bank, NA.† The program is for one year and will provide assistance to families experiencing difficulties with their mortgage as a result of layoffs or a turn in the economy.

December 2010 Microsoft Corporation donated $493,700 worth of system and application software.† The software includes fifty licenses of Microsoft Windows, Office Professional, Project and Visual Studio.† The donation, the largest ever in SERís history, allows for students to prepare on the latest technology.

May 21, 2013 Retired New York Yankee Catcher Jorge Posada visited SERís main office and made a presentation to a group of SER students.† Posada is the founder of the Jorge Posada Foundation which is involved with research for craniosynostosis.† He is also one of the three Latinos featured in the Johnnie Walker campaign, My Label is Black.
